ing. Krista van Meijgaarden

Krista van Meijgaarden is working at the Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands. She received her bachelor degree in Biochemistry at the University of applied sciences in Delft, The Netherlands. She has a long standing track record in the department where she is currently pursuing her PhD (Leiden University Center for Infectious diseases ). Immunology has always been her interest with a focus on the cellular immunology of the host response in tuberculosis, from classical CD4 and CD8 T cells to non-classical HLA-E restricted T cells and from monocytes to B cells. Acknowledging the host defense system as a sum of parts from innate to adaptive immunity, she is now studying the role of antibodies in tuberculosis as they are still underestimated in the immune response against mycobacterium tuberculosis.
