About

Fundamental insight into virus replication and virus-host interactions is essential for the development of novel antiviral strategies - an indispensable pillar of preparedness for future viral outbreaks. The LUMC Molecular Virology team has studied the molecular biology of coronaviruses and other nidoviruses since 1990. These efforts aim to dissect their replication cycles, identify potential antiviral drug targets, and improve our understanding of their evolutionary capacity. In light of the emergence of multiple (potentially) lethal coronaviruses over the past two decades, this research remains a high priority for pandemic preparedness.
